Feeling Burnt Out in Pokemon Pocket TCG

After being pretty consistently addicted to Pokemon Pocket TCG since release, lately it’s started to feel much more like a chore than a joy.

The allure of Shining Revelry’s shiny Pokemon quickly faded with the introduction of the Darkrai & Giratina meta. I was looking forward to ranked matches so badly but the current state of battles is simply.. not fun.

I’ve been slowly climbing the ranks anyway, currently at Pokeball Rank 3, but every match feels like a grind. Either I’m using the same overplayed Darkrai & Giratina deck or trying to counter it with little payoff. It’s hard to stay motivated when there’s not much variety (or fun) involved.

(I do really like the Giratina immersive card however, it gives me Madoka Magica vibes, and my Giratina & Darkrai deck is very appropriately named Walpurgisnacht)

The one ray of light in Pocket TCG lately has been the recent solo event. The promo Pawmot is absolutely adorable and probably the cutest event card we’ve seen so far. If I weren’t so worn out, I’d for sure be playing for extra copies to fill a binder of electric cuties. But right now, my energy has been going elsewhere, and that’s perfectly okay ✩
