I’ve been playing Pokemon Pocket TCG daily since release day. I didn’t expect it to hold my attention for this long, these days I tend to get burned out on ‘freemium’ mobile-only games pretty quickly, but so far Pocket TCG has struck a wonderful balance between having lots to do without feeling pressured to play daily, and plenty of resources for free-to-play players without feeling pay-to-win.
A little part of me can’t quite get over the name of the new expansion (smackdown is not the word I’d use for 激闘, it sounds silly to me) but otherwise hype hype hype! New cards to collect and new decks to build! I still haven’t finished collecting all of Genetic Apex or Mythical Island, but hopefully with trade open now I can fill in those last remaining blank spots in my collection soon.
I decided to start with Dialga packs as I have my eyes set on Pachirisu ex to improve my Pikachu/Circle Circuit deck.. but rng apparently has different plans for me, as the first ex cards to show up for me were both versions of Dialga ex. Now I feel I have to shift focus and build a Dialga deck!
My top chase cards this expansion are full art Dawn and the galaxy-esque full art Pachirisu ex:
I also have my eyes on the other full art Pachirisu ex, the full art Shaymin, and I need to collect as many Glaceon cards as I can to hopefully fill a whole binder someday.
At first glance it also seems like there’s quite a bit of new item and trainer cards that will benefit my existing decks, so I’m excitedly on the hunt for a lot! I’m really happy with Pocket TCG so far and I hope these vibes keep up ✩
