Pokemon Unite Galarian Rapidash Initial Thoughts

Pokemon Unite has become my most played game on the Switch by far, which is kind of funny considering how much MOBA games are usually not my cup of tea, and how god awfully terrible I was at the game when I first started.

500+ hours later and it’s somehow become my comfort game. I’m never going to be the type of player that tops the damage meters, but I consistently hit Master rank now, feel comfortable playing all roles, and honestly just have a lot of fun every match regardless of whether we win or lose!

My main Pokemon is Sylveon, and yes, I am a giant sucker who shelled out for the legendary skin for her so I can pretend to be an ultimate magical girl every time I play.

Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash line are two of my all-time favorite Pokemon and I was super excited for their release and live my best My Little Pony Pokemon Unite life.
Definitely a bit annoyed with how TiMi handled the event pass— there’s absolutely no way to complete the pass and unlock both Rapidash and the event Holowear even if you do every single mission every single day, which is super not cool for an event that you already have to pay for. The only way to ‘complete’ the event and get the full unlock is to throw even more irl money at TiMi to increase your event pass level.

All that aside— I rushed to unlock Rapidash as soon as I could and she’s a really unique Pokemon to play! Her entire mechanic is all about running fast, the faster you’re running the more powerful you are, so you’re diving into fights, setting off your moves, and then running back out until your moves are off cooldown.

I’m… really not very good at it, it’s a very different play style than what I’m used to and I can’t seem to get the hang of it quite yet. It doesn’t seem too advanced, I feel like I just need practice, but it’s a lot more chaotic than the Pokemon I usually play in Unite and it’s not coming intuitively to me. Time to practice practice practice as much as I can ✩
