Here’s the full history of the Allunaverse: the creation of this website, its predecessor Alluna Japan, and all the other online projects that led to Alluna Online.
2010-2013: Early Blogging & Poketopia
I began my first hobby blog back in 2010. After being heavily involved with the toy & game collecting communities on LiveJournal, especially Pkmncollectors, I wanted to host my writing publicly outside of LJ. My blogging originally focused on documenting my Eeveelution collectibles & Pokemon treasures found during my trips to Japan. I eventually added an online store to my blog and rebranded the site as Poketopia Toys in 2013.
Poketopia was a major success for me at the time! Blogging about Pokemon collecting built an audience that carried over to the store side of the site, and Poketopia was even featured on IGN during the launch of Pokemon XY as a top recommended place to buy Pokemon collectibles online.
2014-2018: Life in Japan & Alluna Japan
In 2014, I packed up all my belongings and moved to Japan, starting a completely new life— and a new era for my online projects.
After moving to Japan, I wrote extensively on my personal blog about anime collectibles, Japanese mobile games, Tokyo Disneyland trips, merchandise collaborations with Japanese fashion brands, and other aspects of my daily otaku lifestyle in Tokyo. My side project of writing about random aspects of my life started to become just as big as my main Pokemon blog, and in 2015, I combined all my blogs & online sales together to create Alluna Japan.
Alluna Japan was the culmination of many years of work and the website was my absolute pride and joy.
The site was put on an indefinite hiatus at the end of 2018. I had begun spending less time in Japan and eventually moved back to the US full-time for medical care. It was a really difficult period: maintaining the Alluna Japan website took more energy than I could give at the time, and so I chose to close it to focus on my health & recovery.
2020-2024: Gaming Streams & Vtuber Creation
During my hiatus from hobby blogging, I desperately missed connecting with others around the world who shared my passion for toys & games. I began streaming games on Twitch in 2020 & established Allinia as a VTuber character the following year. Though my streaming schedule was limited, I streamed every now & then and continued to develop Allinia’s character design & lore for several years, laying the foundation for what would later become the Allunabun YouTube channel.
2025-Present: Alluna Online & Allunabun
In 2025, in honor of the site’s ten year anniversary, I reopened Alluna Japan under the name Alluna Online, the site that you see today! I also launched Allunabun on YouTube, an evolution of my VTuber character and the next step in bringing the Allunaverse to life.
Lots of time has passed but much has remained the same: my love for Pokemon & gaming, toy collecting, and sharing joy through cute things is still at the heart of everything I do. What’s changed is the world around it. The internet evolved, communities shifted, and I grew as a person.
Alluna Online was born as a way to reconnect with that original spark while embracing who I’ve become since those early days of blogging.
Now, instead of just focusing on what I collect, Alluna Online celebrates the whole world of cozy, whimsical hobbies that make life brighter. Alluna Online isn’t just a relaunch of an old website, it’s the next chapter in a lifelong creative journey. A place where I can share the wonder of collecting, gaming, and storytelling once again: this time with a gentler pace, a deeper appreciation, and the same heart that’s been here since the very beginning ✩
